  If there was ever an island that lived up to the cliche “a land of contrasts”, it had to be Corfu.

  Set in the sparkling turquoise-blue Ionian sea, Corfu’s tree clad mountains rise to over 3000 feet.

  You’ll find trendy resorts, hamburger bars, cafes and discos, and then only a few miles away, deserted sandy coves or secluded wooded valleys.

  To keep it in perspective, there are still reputed to be 17 million olive trees, to say nothing of the vast orange groves, cypresses, vines, bougainvillea and everything else that grows in profusion on this green and fertile island.

Barbati

  The coastline of the north east coast is one of the most scenic on the whole of the island, with rich greenery overlooking sparkling blue water.

  As you approach from Corfu Town along a winding road with spectacular views, you will discover an array of captivating villages scattered along the coastline.

   The area is peacefully quiet with a relaxed atmosphere, but hidden night-life is there for those who want it. Along the twisting road surrounded by lush green vegetation and olive groves you will discover an assortment of typically Greek houses.

  Barbati is a small settlement, belonging to Spartilas, nestled in the olive groves, very popular for its long stretch of pebble beach leading into the crystal-clear sea, with good tavernas and all kinds of water sports.  

  Spartilas is a mountain, pretty village with plenty of running water, which can be reached by a winding road. The village offers majestic views and a rest can be taken at the spring of the Church of the Blessed Virgin.
